SFS officer receives USCENTAF award

A security forces officer received the Outstanding Security Forces Company Grade Officer of the Year award for U. S. Central Command Air Forces here Jan. 18.

Capt. Jeff Spencer, 386th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron operations officer, earned the award for his work here during his yearlong deployment and for his work as the executive officer to the 37th Training Group commander at Lackland AFB, Texas.

The commander of the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, Col. Robert Swisher, and Col. Mike Kelly, USCENTAF force protection, presented the captain with the award.

"Captain Spencer is the ultimate professional among security forces CGOs," said Lt. Col. Martin Rothrock, 386th ESFS commander. "He is an unquestionable expert at all details of expeditionary security and makes consistently sound decisions in leading more than 200 Airmen."

According to a report, Capt. Spencer received the award for directing 368 convoys moving more than 10,000 servicemembers with zero mishaps or lives lost, and for his fly-away section of defenders flying 2,454 combat sorties, guarding nearly 10,000 detainees, and 92,000 passengers during his deployment.
