A 386th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron captain was recently named Outstanding Security Forces Company Grade Officer of the Year for U. S. Central Command Air Forces.

Capt. Jeff Spencer, 386 ESFS operations officer, won the award for his work here and for his work as the executive officer to the 37th Training Group commander at Lackland AFB, Texas. He arrived here for a 365-day tour in February.

"Captain Spencer is the ultimate professional among security forces CGOs," said Lt. Col. Martin Rothrock, 386 ESFS commander. "He is an unquestionable expert at all details of expeditionary security and makes consistently sound decisions in leading more than 200 Airmen."

According to his nomination for award, he directed 368 convoys, moving 10,000 servicemembers with zero mishaps or lives lost. His fly away section flew 2,454 combat sorties, guarding almost 10,000 detainees and 92,000 passengers.

Captain Spencer will now compete for the Air Force-level Outstanding Security Forces CGO of the Year award. He'll leave for Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, in February.
