Working at detainee visitation, I facilitate visits between family members and detainees at the world's largest theater internment facility. Additionally, I schedule and track detainee visits, ensure strict accountability of hundreds of detainees and visitors weekly and foster a healthy relationship between family members and coalition forces. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my fifth deployment to the Middle East. This trip is unique because I have never worked in close proximity with the local populace which allows me to see the effects of what we are doing here. We place a huge emphasis on counter-insurgency operations and I believe we are positively influencing the Iraqi youth. This is also my first time working detainee operations encountering the enemy on a daily basis. How does your job differ in a deployed environment versus home base? Working in a deployed location gives me a greater sense of satisfaction when the mission is completed. You know there is an entire country behind you and you are making history every time you head off to work.
