Retirement pay not impacted by LES misprint Published July 28, 2007 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Defense Finance and Accounting Service found an error on many active-duty Air Force personnel's May, June and July Leave and Earning Statements, Air Force officials announced in a statement issued July 26. A system change in the Military Personnel Data System in April caused the wrong retirement code to appear on personnel records sent to DFAS but this will not affect Airmen's retirement pay. "Benefits will not be affected," said Master Sgt. Rose Witiak, 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Finance accounting liaison. "This is simply a print error and not connected to any pay item." All of the information in the MilPDS is correct, and the error caused no additional effects beyond the misprinted code in the retirement plan field on the member's LES. DFAS annotated the July LES with a statement pointing out the error and assuring personnel that the error did not influence retirement pay or benefits. "Airmen can expect their August LES to show the correct information," added Sergeant Witiak. Air Force programmers and Air Force Personnel Operations Agency personnel are currently working to resolve the issue.
