Rock Solid Warrior Published July 21, 2007 386th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Staff Sgt. Paul Adams Staff Sgt. Paul Adams 386th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron C-130 Hydraulic Technician Home unit/base: 43rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C. How do you support the mission here? I maintain hydraulic systems on the C-130 aircraft. I was selected to be the Dedicated Crew Chief for aircraft 62-1837. I also help out with other maintenance where needed, which helps me constantly learn new systems on the aircraft. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? I have deployed four times. Not a lot has changed except I can see more of a camaraderie between the troops - people working together and getting the job done as a team, even though we have five bases working under one aircraft maintenance unit. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? We work a lot more hours here and the operations-tempo is a lot higher. Other than that, I guess I can add I miss the scenery at my home base.
