Rock Solid Warrior Published July 7, 2007 386th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Tech. Sgt. Wilton Garcia Tech. Sgt. Wilton Garcia 386th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron 386th Expeditionary Operations Group commander support staff NCO in charge and client support administrator Home unit/base: 3rd Contracting Squadron, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska How do you support the mission here? I support the mission here by ensuring the operations group's communications equipment (ranging from cell phones to mission planning computers) is working properly, ensuring our Aircrews get our planes in the air on time - on target. I'm also responsible for ensuring the Aircrews and support personnel have the required equipment to accomplish their missions. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This will make my 3rd deployment. This one is unique because I get to see what goes on behind the scenes in the operations group. I have a better understanding of what aircrew and aircrew-support personnel do to get the planes in the air to support our fellow Airmen, Soldiers and Sailors on the battlefield. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? My job differs in a deployed environment from home in a big way. At home station I only work on computers and records. Here, I'm not only working on computers but I'm also the unit travel representative, land mobile radio representative, emergency unit control center representative and group resource advisor.
