Rock Solid Warrior Published May 25, 2007 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Luis E. Fonseca Senior Airman Luis E. Fonseca 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron Utilities Systems Journeyman Home unit/base: 156th Airlift Wing, Muňiz ANG Base, Puerto Rico How do you support the mission here? I maintain the water distribution and building utility systems. I am part of a team that has the great responsibility of providing water to our Airmen and the people they support. We take our job very seriously, because we know that what we do affects Airmen's health and personal hygiene. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my second deployment. It is very different from my first deployment. In 2003, I deployed to Aviano Air Base, Italy. The operations tempo here at the Rock is higher and gives you the opportunity to support Airmen and put the Wingman concept to work. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? The diversity of Airmen form other units is helping me to gain skills and knowledge that I did not have before. Because I'm sharing with and learning new skills from other airmen I feel it makes us a better, stronger Air Force.
