Rock Solid Warrior Published May 12, 2007 43 EECS SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Airman 1st Class Derrick Love Airman 1st Class Derrick Love 43rd Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron 1N031 Intelligence/Ops Intel Analyst Home unit/base: 755 OSS/Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ How do you support the mission here? I provide pre-mission briefs and airfield threat assessments for 24 aircrew members prior to combat missions. I also produce a mission report detailing our combat effectiveness, which I then send out to more than 40 organizations around the world. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment, so the entire experience is very new for me. This experience is unique because the surroundings and expectations are very new and it's a great learning experience to be in the deployed environment. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? At my home station, my job is mainly focused on training and keeping leadership aware of current operations in CENTCOM's three areas of responsibility through current-intelligence briefings. In a deployed environment, I'm responsible for providing all intelligence necessary for my aircrews to execute their combat sorties. The aircrews depend on timely and accurate intelligence to ensure that we bring our personnel and aircraft home safely.
