Rock Solid Warrior Published April 6, 2007 586 ELRS SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Tech. Sgt. Michael Velasquez Tech. Sgt. Michael Velasquez 586th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron 2S071 586 EMSG Resource Advisor Home unit/base: 377 SFS/ Kirtland AFB, N.M. How do you support the mission here? I am serving two roles here at Camp Arifjan. I am the supply liaison for two Medium Truck Detachments (MTD), two Movement Control Teams, and two Security Forces Squadrons that are in-lieu of forces. I am also the group resource advisor for the 586 EMSG. As the group RA I support four geographically separated units and the two MTD here at Camp Arifjan. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my third deployment and this one is unique due to my position. I have always been in a supply squadron and I have never been an RA for a Mission Support Group. This is also unique because we are deployed here at Camp Arifjan where we also work within the Army system. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? My job here is different in that I deal with several units instead of just one. At home station I am the Supply person for The Security Forces and I am also the alternate RA. This makes my job here easier because I already have experience in dealing with outside agencies and many of the required processes..
