Rock Solid Warrior Published March 19, 2007 886 ESFS SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Ryan C. Gedding Senior Airman Ryan C. Gedding 886th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron 3P051 Combat Arms Instructor Home unit/base: 355 SFS, Davis-Monthan, Tuscon Ariz. How do you support the mission here? I am a compound guard. I ensure detainees stay safe and secure inside the compound. I also monitor the compounds Less-Than-Lethal-Weapons ensuring they are clean and functional. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? I have deployed once before to Iraq. This time I'm working for the Army, helping with the detainee mission. My last deployment I ran convoys and performed air base defense. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? Completely different, back home I instruct at least two classes a week, fix weapons and schedule the base firing appointments. Here I work closely with the detainees whether on the ground or in a tower making sure the camp rules are followed. First Sergeant's Impression of SrA Geddings: This Senior Airman is the type of individual I want in the NCO corps. He is not of afraid to stand tall in a crowd and continually demonstrates the qualities we admire in a leader. We in the 886 ESFS are proud to nominate him for this because he is a Warrior. Sincerely, MSgt Randy C. Bridenthal, First Sergeant.
