This week's Rock Solid Warrior is Master Sgt. Muhammed Conteh. Conteh is a customs manager with the 386th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron. The Brooklyn, New York native is deployed from the 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Q: What is your family's military heritage:
A: My Father was in the Army and served 23 years.

Q: What is your mission here?
A: Wing customs manager for the 386 AEW.

Q: What are some of the best parts of your mission?
A: Since all of the agents are volunteers, I get to network and meet with many different AFSCs and ranks from all branches of services.

Q: What are some of the challenges you face while conducting your mission, and how do you overcome them?
A: The customs program here is all volunteer, so we depend on them to have a successful mission.

Q: How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base?
A: At home, I am the section chief of personal property, so we deal mainly with the pick-up and delivery of household goods. Here, it's mainly dealing with safely sending redeployers home, while securing our nation's borders from foreign agriculture and contraband.

Q: How many times have you deployed?
A: This is my eight deployment.

Q: What makes this deployment unique?
A: It's my final deployment and I am in a position I would have never thought I would be in since normally when I deploy I am working in the warehouse shipping and receiving cargo. In this position I am leading a team of top flight customs agents who have a crucial job in getting all of our wingmen and sister services home safely and without delay.

Q: Why did you join the Air Force?
A: I needed a change of pace; I wanted to travel the world. Growing up as a military brat I was used to moving a lot and seeing different countries and meeting new people.
