Members of the 386th Expeditionary Contracting Squadron hosted Industry Day 2014, Jan. 30, an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia.

Industry Day contributes to the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing mission by expanding its combined vendor base for the purchase of commodities, services and future construction projects on The Rock.

"This event allows contracting to become aware of companies that satisfy current requirements that we have on the installation," said Lt. Joshua Bullock, 386th ECONS infrastructure flight chief.

To gain more knowledge about doing business with 386th AEW, an estimated 200 contractors from various countries within and around the area of responsibility attended. Uniting with local contractors bolstered interest in government industries.

"The diversity of people in attendance and the services and products they had to offer broadened the scope of the current mission by providing the base with a wider variety of vendors," said Ms. Mellissa Dominick, 386th ECONS contracting officer.

The conference allowed prospective contractors and representatives from U.S. government agencies to discuss common interests and explore ways to streamline the procurement process.

All interested businesses must pass through a rigorous screening prospect. The most important characteristics that contracting looks for in vendors is a reasonable price, quality products and timely delivery.

"This event will definitely continue to help build relations with local nationals by supporting their local businesses," said Dominick.
