This week's Rock Solid Warrior is Master Sgt. Josue Molinar.  Master Sgt. Molinar is the Traffic Management Office Superintendent with the 386th Expeditionary Logisitics Readiness Squadron.

The El Paso, Tex. native is deployed from the 773rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

In his own words:

Family's military heritage:
I have an identical twin brother stationed at Nellis AFB, Nev. who is also a Master Sgt.

What is your mission here?
I oversee customer service & execute/procure commercial/Air Mobility Command travel for Permanent Change of Station, Temporary Duty & Air Expeditionary Force redeployment travelers. Direct daily cargo movement operations for in/outbound, packing/crating shipments. Last, oversee the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing's Customs Border Protection Program at The Rock.

What are some of the best parts of your mission?
The best part is knowing the fact that my job directly impacts the wing's mission.  I know that base personnel will not redeploy without my Passenger Travel section and aircraft will not fly without my Cargo Shipping and Receiving section.

What are some of the challenges you face while conducting your mission, and how do you overcome them?
Some of the challenges are building cohesive relationships with the U.S. Army, host nation, Air Forces Central and forward operating locations to facilitate smooth cargo and passenger movement, reduce customs cargo hold time, and synchronize various operating systems to ensure mission success.

I overcome challenges by knowing my job and utilizing all the skills and leadership roles I have been placed into over the years that have molded me into the manager I am today. I have learned from my mistakes and lean on my leadership team for guidance when things become tough or overwhelming.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base?
There is increase in camaraderie since we have no families to go home to; all we have is our military brothers and sisters to hang out with. Also, the weather in Alaska is totally opposite from my current deployed location, so it took me some time to get accommodated to extremely hot temperatures when I first arrived here.

How many times have you deployed?
This is my eighth deployment.

What makes this deployment unique?
I have been blessed with a superb team of professionals who have great job experience and leadership skills. It made my job as a manager much easier to handle.

Why did you join the Air Force?
I joined the Air Force to build a career and plan for my retirement. I also joined because of education benefits offered and the opportunites to travel the world
