Southwest Asia -- I’m Airman 1st Class Anthony Davis, a 386th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron services apprentice.
My home unit is the 97th Force Support Squadron at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
As a services apprentice I am able to work in five different areas: Lodging, fitness, protocol, readiness and food services. Currently, in food services my job is to prepare and serve meals at the installation dining facility. I must maintain the highest level of customer service and ensure meals are safe for patrons to eat.
The best part of the mission here is the opportunity to network with other members of the 386th AEW team. I see so many faces from virtually every work center on base and I’ve gotten to know many of them.
The biggest challenge with our mission here is the language barrier between the military members and civilian contractors. We work closely with them every day and sometimes we must use other means of communication to get the job done.
In my off time, I enjoy playing video games, working out at the gym, spending time with friends and fishing, especially for largemouth bass.
My professional goals are to continue learning about my job and about the air force to prepare me for the next rank. My personal goals are to improve my communication skills and to go to school.
