Airmen from the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing participate in a memorial ruck and run event during Police Week, May 20, 2022 at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week in which it falls as National Police Week. Since the first service memorial gathering in Senate Park, Washington D.C., U.S. agencies across the nation and abroad have held events to honor fallen officers and acknowledge their sacrifices.
