BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan --

Team USA Beach Volleyball players visited Airmen assigned to the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Airfield during a tour Nov. 9.

During the visit, Airmen spoke with Team USA’s Tealle Hunkus, Caitlin Ledoux, Jennifer Snyder and Ty Tramblie about the technology and tools they use, as well as the overall mission they perform.

“Although we only get to see a small glimpse of what you all do, we are so grateful,” said Hunkus. “I think we all have a new perspective on what our military does for us so we can live safely and freely.”

Along the way, the team met with several squadrons to experience their part of the mission, including a hands-on demo with the DroneDefender, an unmanned aerial systems disabling device, at the 455th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron.

The group also visited with the 83rd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron, where they toured an Army CH-47 Chinook helicopter, and the 455th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, where they had an up-close encounter with an F-16 Fighting Falcon.

“All of us [Team USA] have had the opportunity to travel the world and have USA on the back of our jersey, which is such a blessing, but it’s because of you guys here and your sacrifice,” said Ledoux. “Your commitment to our country allows us to go represent the country the way that we do.”
