Combined operations kill 5, detain 4

Afghan and Coalition forces killed five insurgents and detained four suspected individuals in eastern Afghanistan during operations over the past 24 hours, Nov. 1.

Coalition airstrikes killed four insurgents after they were identified with machine guns and a rocket-propelled grenade launcher in Ghazni District, Ghazni Province. Another Coalition airstrike killed one insurgent after troops positively identified him emplacing an improvised explosive device in Sharan District, Paktika Province.

Afghan National Army troops with 4th Kandak, 203rd ANA Corps detained four individual wanted for questioning in Baraki Barak District, Logar Province. They were safely transported to a nearby headquarters for questioning.

Insurgents wounded two Afghan civilians when an IED detonated in Khowst District, Khowst Province. Coalition forces immediately provided medical care and transported one of the wounded to a nearby Coalition clinic for treatment. The other individual was treated at the scene and released.

Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
