Panjshir PRT Hikes 24 Kilometers to Deliver Humanitarian Aid

PANJSHIR PROVINCE, Afghanistan ? Several locals from the remote village of Astana in the Dara District assist members of the Panjshir Provincial Reconstruction Team move supplies, Oct. 6. Donkeys were used to deliver humanitarian aid 12 kilometers to the village. Members of Panjshir PRT hiked to the village to deliver winter coats and to talk to village elders about any other issues the village may be experiencing. Astana is only accesible by foot during the summer months and isn?t reachable during the winter due to the large amount of snow the village receives. This single-room clinic is the only medical facility within a 12-kilometer radius of the village and serves a total of eight villages.
