Afghan, Coalition Forces kill two militants in Farah Published April 19, 2009 By US Forces Afghanistan Public Affairs KABUL, Afghanistan -- Afghan National Army soldiers, assisted by Coalition Forces, killed two militants while conducting a combat reconnaissance patrol in Khaki Safed District, Farah Province, today. The combined elements were conducting a patrol when they came under machine-gun, small-arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire from approximately five to seven militants. Shortly thereafter, the militants were reinforced by approximately 20-30 fighters from established firing positions. The friendly forces dismounted from their vehicles and pursued the militants on foot. The majority of the militants abandoned their fighting positions, but two were killed and several others wounded as the combined elements cleared the area. No ANA, Coalition Force or non-combatant casualties were reported.
