U.S. C-17 damaged at Kandahar Airfield Published Dec. 24, 2008 By U.S. Air Forces Central Public Affairs SOUTHWEST ASIA -- A United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster III operated by the 315th Airlift Wing from Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina departed the hard surface of the runway at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan at about 6:20 a.m. local time. There were no injuries and no damage to airfield facilities. A safety board will be convened to investigate the incident.
