ANSF, Coalition forces kill 3 militants during 2 engagements in Helmand province Published Oct. 19, 2008 By U.S. Forces Afghanistan KABUL, Afghanistan -- Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition forces killed three militants in two separate engagements in Helmand province Saturday and today. The first engagement was in Washir District as ANSF and Coalition forces were conducting a combat security patrol. Militants attacked the patrol with rocket-propelled grenades and machine gun fire. ANSF and Coalition forces responded to the attack with small-arms fire, killing two militants. The second engagement occurred in the Nahr Surkh District while ANSF and Coalition forces were conducting a combat security patrol. Militants attacked the patrol with small-arms, machine-gun and rifle fire. ANSF and Coalition forces responded with small-arms and indirect fires, killing one militant. No ANSF, Coalition forces or civilian casualties have been reported as a result of either of the engagements.
