Militant activities disrupted in Helmand province Published Oct. 9, 2008 By Headquarters U.S. Forces Afghanistan KABUL, Afghanistan -- Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition forces killed several militants in Nahr Surkh district, Helmand province Oct. 8. An ANSF and Coalition forces combat patrol was attacked by militants using small arms, machine-gun and rocket-propelled grenade fire. ANSF and Coalition forces maneuvered on the enemy position and returned fire using small-arms, RPG and close air support, killing nine militants. A cache of RPG rounds was discovered at the site. No ANSF, Coalition forces or civilian casualties have been reported.
