Militant attack kills one civilian, wounds four Published Oct. 3, 2008 BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan -- One civilian was killed and four others wounded in the village of Matin in Pech District, Konar province this morning when militants attacked an Afghan National Army patrol and Coalition forces. Militants engaged the joint forces with small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. Not only did they attack the joint patrol, but also the local village and surrounding corn fields as well. ANA soldiers returned fire. At no time did they fire weapons into the corn fields or the village. The ANA provided immediate medical care to the wounded and transported them to a medical facility for treatment. The body of the civilian was recovered and returned to his village. No service members were wounded in the attack and the incident is under investigation.
