Insurgents killed, ammunition cache discovered in Kandahar province Published Sept. 29, 2008 By Combined Joint Task Force - 101 Combined Press Information Center BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan -- Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition forces killed several insurgents and confiscated an ammunition cache in Maywand District, Kandahar province Sept. 28. ANSF and Coalition forces were searching a remote compound where insurgent activities were suspected. During the search, a group of insurgents were spotted placing an IED alongside a road. ANSF and Coalition forces engaged the insurgents, killing two. ANSF and Coalition forces then received small-arms fire from a nearby fighting position. They returned fire on the enemy fighting position, killing one insurgent. During the search, a cache consisting of more than 1,000 small-arms rounds was confiscated. No ANSF, Coalition forces or civilian casualties have been reported.
