Haqqani commanders detained in Khowst province Published Sept. 24, 2008 By Combined Joint Task Force - 101 Combined Press Information Center BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan -- Coalition forces detained three suspected militants, including two commanders, during operations targeting a Haqqani terrorist network in Khowst province, Tuesday. The operation targeted a known Haqqani commander and subcommander in Sabari District, both suspected of coordinating and conducting IED and suicide attacks. These commanders are also believed to finance and facilitate the movement of foreign fighters into Afghanistan. A search of the compound revealed multiple AK-47s, other small arms and military style clothing. These items were destroyed to prevent future use.
