Increased security threat in Afghanistan Published Aug. 18, 2008 By Combined Joint Task Force - 101 Combined Press Information Center BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan -- The Commander of the U.S. led Coalition, with guidance from Commander International Security Assistance Forces, has made the decision to inform the Afghan public of a heightened security threat based on credible intelligence reporting. These reports indicate that the enemies of the people of Afghanistan intend to attack civilian, military and government targets during Afghan Independence celebrations. We recommend to all Afghans to be vigilant at large public events and other locations where crowds gather and report suspicious behavior to security forces, Afghan or Coalition, and government representatives. A visible increase in security as well as public awareness can make a difference and save Afghan lives, defeating the enemies' plans to discredit the Afghan government.
