An Air Force MQ-9 Reaper was involved in a ground accident about 10 a.m. local time today in southern Afghanistan.

The aircraft, returning from a combat mission, did sustain some damage.

The Reaper is a medium-to-high altitude, long endurance, remotely piloted platform with multiple capabilities.

A board of inquiry has been appointed and will investigate the incident.
