An Airman deployed here from the 437th Aerial Port Squadron, Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., was recently highlighted as the 'Warrior of the Week.'

Airman 1st Class Ryan Amos, 451st Air Expeditionary Group air transportation journeyman, was recognized by his supervisors and leadership for his professionalism and strong work ethic.

"He has outstanding initiative; he never has to be told what needs to be done," said Master Sgt. Matt Messner, 451st Air Terminal Operations Center Superintendent. "He is a sharp Airman who has stepped up to fill roles traditionally filled by NCOs and performed just as good."

Airman Amos' duties vary from arranging travel for passengers transitioning through Kandahar to palletizing and loading cargo destined to be delivered to coalition forces in the field.

"Here I get an opportunity to do several aspects of my career field," said Airman Amos. "I get the opportunity to work five different sections in a 12-hour shift, which is something I wouldn't get a chance to do at home."

Airman Amos accredited the team of Airmen he works with for his recognition.

"Everyone here works hard and deserves to be recognized," said Airman Amos. "Nothing happens without the rest of the team."

In the two years he has been in the service, this is Airman Amos' second deployment. He said aside from being separated from his family, he enjoys it.

"I like being deployed," said Airman Amos. "I get a better purpose for what I do."
