755th ECES activated

Members of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing joined together to witness the activation of the 755th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron and its assumption of command Dec. 15.

Brig. Gen. Christopher Miller, 455th AEW commander officially activated the squadron by unveiling the units guide-on. Col. Michael Mounts, 755th Expeditionary Mission Support Group commander, appointed Lt. Col. Kimberly Thompson as the squadron commander during the assumption of command portion of the ceremony.

Deployed from McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas the colonel provided motivational words to Airmen present during the ceremony.

He said, "We are a team. Every member is important and valued. You are significant to the capable operation of this unit. You are deserving of and entitled to principled leadership. Accept nothing less..."

The new squadron provides facility engineering, master planning, explosive ordnance disposal, and construction expertise for Bagram Air Field and the Combined Joint Operations Area. The unit provides mission ready engineers to support regional conflict at contingency operating locations, forward operating bases and main operating bases, beddown support using expedient or existing facilities, sustainment support of facilities, 24-hours command and control, ensuring Prime Beef team preparation for short-notice, forward deployment and contingency engineering support requirements on force beddown, base recovery and airfield operations.

The unit activation makes it the third squadron within the 755th EMSG.
