You can help tell the Air Force story

  • Published
When you return from serving in Operation Enduring Freedom, you can help tell the Air Force story in your hometown without being charged leave by participating in the Recruiter Assistance Program.

Due to changes in the military leave program, the Air Force has expanded the Recruiter Assistance Program to include all active-duty Air Force members. RAP participation was once limited to new technical-training and officer-training graduates.

Members of the military can be influential in bringing their story to their hometown, according to Air Force recruiting officials. By participating in question-and-answer sessions or making presentations to high school and college students, participants will help develop leads and contacts for local recruiters.

Those who participate are eligible to apply for up to 12 days of non-chargeable leave for RAP. Although all active-duty Air Force members are eligible for RAP, not all applicants will be selected for RAP, according to officials. Commander approval and recruiting squadron approval is needed to participate.

Once approved, typical activities include visiting high schools with the recruiter, calling people you know to discuss the benefits of an Air Force career and basically using your experience to persuade potential recruits to join the Air Force.
