Under the radar
Staff Sgt. Alonzo Perry, right, takes a break for some water while two of his squadronmates continue installing safety wire on an APN-59 radar transmitter and receiver in the nose of a C-130 Hercules at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, Aug. 28. Sergeant Perry is from the 166th Airlift Wing, Delaware Air National Guard. He is deployed to the 455th Expeditionary Maintenance Group at Bagram in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He and three other communication and navigation system specialists replaced the radar antenna, then attached safety wire to the fasteners to prevent them from vibrating loose during flight. The entire C-130 maintenance operation at Bagram is manned by members of the Air National Guard from all over the U.S. (US Air Force photo/Maj. David Kurle)
