Chief Master Sgt. Ramon Colon-Lopez, Air Forces Central Command command chief, visited Airmen from the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing here July 9, 2014.

Colon-Lopez's visit allowed him to become familiar with the 455 AEW, see the changes within the last few years, answer Airmen's questions, and meet with senior enlisted leaders.

"The last time I was here was in 2012," said Colon-Lopez. "A main purpose of my visit was to get familiar with Bagram, look at the security, and listen to any concerns Airmen might have regarding the direction of where the force is going."

The visit was important to Colon-Lopez for the Airmen here to put a face to the name. As he walked around several units throughout the wing, Airmen briefed Colon-Lopez on their mission.

"It was pleasant and motivating to listen to the knowledge that our young Airmen have," said Colon-Lopez. "I was excited to hear how mature some of these Airmen are, I spoke to an Airman who has only been in for a few years but speaks like he has been in for ten."

Colon-Lopez concluded his visit by expressing his appreciation for everyone's efforts and contributions to the mission. He also had a message for Airmen to be cognizant of where they are and what they are doing here.

"We cannot forget that once we set foot in this country, we are setting foot in a warzone," said Colon-Lopez. "Keep your head in a swivel. Remember what we are here to do because the mission is not done until we are fully out of Afghanistan."
