Fueling the fight: Airmen making a difference one gallon at a time in Southwest Asia

Senior Airman Kiel Gallant, a fuels distribution journeyman with the 380th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels management flight, watches over the fuel line pressure during operations at the fuel pumping facility at a non-disclosed base in Southwest Asia on Jan. 6, 2010. On any given day, Airman Gallant and other fuels Airmen in his flight can off-load up to 600,000 gallons of fuel from host nation supplier fuel trucks where it is pumped through a pipeline to the air field. In 2009, the 380th ELRS fuels management flight pumped more than 188 million gallons of fuel in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. Airman Gallant is deployed from the 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Chraleston Air Force Base, S.C., and his hometown is Washington, D.C. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Tech. Sgt. Scott T.
