California ADT helps vaccinate livestock
KUNAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan - U.S. Army Spc. Jose Lopez, from California National Guard's 40th Infantry Division Agribusiness Development Team irrigation specialist from Porterville, Calif., holds a calf tight while a local Afghan administers vaccines and vitamins during a free veterinary clinic in Naray, Afghanistan, Dec. 17. The ADT worked hand-in-hand with village elders to administer vaccinations to 462 farm animals and hosted more than 100 local farmers who brought their livestock to the event. In addition to the vaccinations, eight local farmers were trained on how to repeat this process in the future, and children were employed to help keep the animals corralled.
