California ADT helps vaccinate livestock
KUNAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan - U.S. Army Lt. Col. Max Velte,( right) from California National Guard's 40th Infantry Division Agribusiness Development Team deputy commander from Sacramento, Calif., greets elders from surrounding villages prior to setting up a mobile veterinary clinic near Naray, Afghanistan, Dec. 17. The ADT worked hand-in-hand with village elders to administer vaccinations to 462 farm animals and hosted more than 100 local farmers who brought their livestock to the event. In addition to the vaccinations, eight local farmers were trained on how to repeat this process in the future, and children were employed to help keep the animals corralled.
