BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - Tech. Sgt. John Lowe III, from the 455th Expeditionary Communications Squadron, clears dirt away from a rock that he must remove here, Aug. 20. The machines used to dig the channels necessary for the job cannot cut through rocks this large, which then requires members to extract the rocks by hand.
