Firefighters Learn Lifesaver
SOUTHWEST ASIA – Staff Sgt. Joshua Hartwell, 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, initiates a saline lock and intravenous infusion on Senior Airman Kyle Dobler, 380th ECES, as Specialist Bryan Haney, a U.S. Army medic, supervises during a Combat Lifesaver Course Aug. 13. The course covers areas such as performing tactical combat casualty care, opening and managing an airway, treating penetrating chest trauma and decompressing a tension pneumothorax, initiating a saline lock and intravenous infusion, and requesting medical evacuation. Sergeant Hartwell is deployed from McConnell AFB, Kan., and hails from Warner Robins, Ga. Airman Dobler is deployed from Peterson AFB, Colo., and hails from Vacaville, Calif.
