EOD Training

Senior Airman Michael Ault, reels out shock tube for the Percussion Actuated Neutralizer (PAN) as Sergeant George Schmalz, both explosive ordnance disposal personnel with the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, sets the PAN in position for a training shot, June 12, 2009, in an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. The PAN is an alternate method used by EOD personnel to disarm explosives. Airman Ault is native to Austin, Texas, while Sergeant Schmalz hails from Enola, Penn.
