Assembly Required
Senior Airman Richard Parvin, a 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron munitions systems journeyman, attaches a KMU-572 fin kit to a GBU-38 Version 1 bomb, May 22, 2009, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. Airman Parvin is working on the tail fin section after having attached the stabilizing strakes on the nose of the bomb. The GBU-38s are assembled and constructed by the base's munitions unit for delivery by B-1B Lancers. Airman Parvin hails from Birmingham, Ala. and is deployed from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa.
