A Dirt Boy Remembered
Tech. Sgt. Peter Lagos, a pavement and equipment operator better known as a "dirt boy" from the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, breaks ground using a back hoe to move the memorial stone for Master Sgt. Evander E. "Andy" Andrews here, May 15, 2009, in and undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. The memorial stone will be placed in front of the coalition compound movie theater and the theater will be renamed the Master Sgt. Evander E. "Andy" Andrews Memorial Theater once the stone is in its final resting place; Master Sgt. Andrews was Operation Enduring Freedom's first fatality. Sergeant Lagos is native to San Jose, Calif. and is deployed from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa.
