Controlling the Situation
Master Sgt. John Werner, 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron readiness and emergency management flight chief, provides communication and control for the hazardous response survey team members during a unit mission readiness exercise, Mar. 27, 2009, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. In a real-world situation Master Sgt. Werner would be physically separated from the survey team but would stay in communication and help develop a plan of attack for the possible contaminated location. Master Sgt. Werner hails from Kansas City, Kan. and is deployed from Anderson Air Force Base, Guam in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa.
