Deployed crews practice emergency-landing response
SOUTHWEST ASIA -- The 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron's Tech. Sgt. Joshua Ashton, fire and emergency services station chief and rescue crew chief, removes the pin holding the pendant and the barrier tape together on the runway here Nov. 19. The pendant and barrier tape comprise the cable and straps used to catch the hook of a fighter jet landing or departing under emergency conditions. Sergeant Ashton, deployed from Andrews Air Force Base, Md., assisted in a cable engagement certification with the help of visiting F-15s from Eglin AFB, Fla. Sergeant Ashton is from Grove City, Ohio.
