Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa
Staff Sgt. George Mitchell, fuels craftsman assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, inspects a gate valve which had earlier developed a small leak. The inspection is part of a security and leak check of the fuel pipeline from bulk storage to operating storage, Nov. 14, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. "Running the line" is a preventative procedure that keeps the fuel flowing to "fuel the fight." Approximately one million gallons of fuel are moved each day through the 379 ELRS fuels section, keeping aircraft flying in Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. Sergeant Mitchell, a native of Lady Lake, Fla., is deployed from Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. (U.S. Air Force Base photo by Tech. Sgt. Michael Boquette/Released)
