Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa
Staff Sgt. Jason Lucius, aircraft maintenance craftsman assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, pounds on a landing gear strut of a KC-135 Stratotanker, Nov. 12, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. The strut is lowered with a couple of helpful strikes from a 10.5 pound dead blow mallet. The strut has to be lowered to remove and replace it. Stratotankers provide the core aerial refueling capability for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft operating in the Central Command area of responsibility. Sergeant Lucius is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and is deployed from McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
