Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa
Airman 1st Class Joseph Marion, crew chief assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, operating the tow vehicle, backs a C-130 Hercules into position, Nov.11, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. A team of 4 spotters are positioned around the aircraft, front, back and each side, and another crew chief rides in the cockpit to apply brakes when the aircraft is in position. C-130s are capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and are the prime transport for air dropping troops and equipment into hostile areas within the Central Command area of responsibility. Airman Marion hails from Port Richey, Fla., and is deployed from Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., is here in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
