Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa

Airman 1st Class Eren Kipp pumps air into a valve holding up a cowling on a C-17 Globemaster III engine while Staff Sergeant Chad Laux disconnects the cowl door rod prior to trouble shooting the shut-off valve, Nov. 10, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. The team works its way down a checklist until the shut-off valve problem is solved. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the Central Command area of responsibility. Sergeant Laux and Airman Kipp are both aircraft electrical & environmental systems technicians assigned to the 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron, deployed from Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force Base-Horn of Africa.
