Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa
Staff Sgt. John Carlson and Senior Airman Tyson Powell, both assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Communications Squadron, fill sand bags Nov. 4, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. With Sergeant Carlson shoveling and Airman Powell holding the sandbag, the two are doing their part to fortify emergency bunkers. Sergeant Carlson, a native of Tacoma, Wash., is deployed from Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. Airman Powell hails from Tomah, Wis., and is deployed from Royal Air Force Alconbury, England.
