Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa
Senior Airman Scott Johnson, 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Aerospace Ground Equipment shop, performs a compliance inspection on air conditioning ducts, October 13, 2008, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. Airman Johnson checks the ducts as part of a phase 2 inspection on an air conditioning and heating unit. A phase 2 is an in-depth inspection checking each system on the unit, including changing out all filters and fluids. In the desert heat, air conditioning units are mission essential because without them aircraft components would overheat during pre-flight operation checks. Airman Johnson is a native of Warner Robins, Ga., and is deployed from Kadena Air Base, Japan, in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
