Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa
Tech. Sgt. Neil Cook, 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 34th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, uses calipers to check tolerance on a control valve Sept. 19, 2008. The tolerance adjustment on the control valve is tight, at 3/1000 of an inch, when changing the wing sweep gear sub-assembly on the B-1 Lancer here at this undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. The B-1 is the backbone of America's long-range bomber force. It can rapidly deliver massive quantities of precision and non-precision weapons against any adversary, anywhere in the world, at any time. Sergeant Cook is a native of Rapid City, S.D., and deployed from Ellsworth Air Force Base, S. D., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
