Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa
Lt. Col. Philip Rivers, commander of the 379th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, and Airman 1st Class Kimberlee San Nicholas, aerospace culinary apprentice assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron, cut the Air Force birthday cake together Sept. 18, 2008, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. It is Air Force tradition to have the oldest and youngest assigned members cut the cake together. Colonel Rivers is deployed from Channel Island Air National Guard, Calif., and Kimberlee San Nicholas is a native of Dededo, Guam, deployed from McConnell Air Force Base, Kan.
